ADMINISTRATIVE INTERN AND MARKETING INTERN

The Institute of Certified Investment and Financial Analysts (ICIFA) is established under the Investment and Financial Analysts Act (No.13 of 2015). The Institute is the regional resource and advocacy business member organization for professionals in the finance and investment sector. The Institute provides region-wide network whilst promoting the role of the profession in the fields of financial analysis, investment, pension funds, asset management, and corporate finance among others. ICIFA is globally affiliated to the Association of Certified International Investment Analysts (ACIIA) based in Switzerland and the Association of Professional Societies in East Africa (APSEA). The examining body for ICIFA is KASNEB which administers the Certified Investment and Financial Analysts (CIFA) Examination.

The Institute has commenced the registration of qualified and potential members to join the Institute as provided by the Investment and Financial Analysts Act (No.13 of 2015).

In order to build capacity at the Secretariat, ICIFA wishes to recruit an Administrative Intern and a Marketing Intern to provide support services. The internship will be for a period of three (3) months, renewable upon satisfactory performance.

Interested and qualified candidates are invited to apply for the two (2) positions of Interns as detailed below:

1. JOB TITLE: ADMINISTRATIVE INTERN

Reporting to the Administrative Officer, the Administrative Intern will be responsible for handling registration of members and membership services, office administration and accounts, assisting in preparation of minutes and providing support in implementing the Institute's strategic plan.

The position requires an energetic, focused, creative and dependable individual who is willing to take up new challenges and grow with the Institute.

 

Task description

  1. Providing administrative support including office correspondence, general filing of documents and record keeping.
  2. Assisting the Administrative Officer in recruitment of new members to the Institute.
  3. Following up on payment of subscription fees by members.
  4. Maintaining an up to date database of ICIFA members.
  5. Organizing and following up of communication between ICIFA members and the Institute.
  6. Ensuring membership services are provided effectively and efficiently.
  7. Assisting the Administrative Officer in book keeping and preparation of accounts.
  8. Drafting minutes of committee meetings.
  9. Other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned.

   Education/Professional qualification and experience

   Applicants must be in possession of the following:

   1.  Bachelor degree in Commerce or related Business field from a recognized University.

   2.  CIFA, CPA, CS or CCP qualification will be added advantage.

3. Knowledge and experience with Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other data   processing and graphical presentation software.

4.Previous experience as an Administrative Intern or Assistant will be an added advantage.

Personal attributes

  1. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  2. Good time management and ability to meet strict deadlines.
  3. Well-organized with a customer-oriented approach.
  4. Good understanding of office administration, record keeping and preparation of accounts.
  5. Self driven and willing to learn new skills.
  6. Excellent inter-personal skills and organizational skills.
  7.  Experience in Microsoft Office Suite and accounting software package.

2. JOB TITLE: MARKETING INTERN

Reporting to the Administrative Officer, the Marketing Intern will be responsible for all marketing aspects of the Institute including development and posting of online content on social media, maintenance of the website and providing support in implementing the Institute’s Strategic plan.

The position requires an energetic, focused, creative and dependable individual who is willing to take up new challenges and grow with the Institute.

 

Task description

  1. Marketing and publishing the Institute’s training programmes.
  2. Assisting the Administrative officer in recruitment of new members to the Institute.
  3. Composing and posting online content on Institute’s social media, or sometimes client's accounts.
  4. Sourcing and creating content/marketing literature (for both online and print) to augment the Institute’s presence in the financial market.
  5. Communicating directly with members and building trust and mutual relationships.
  6. Managing and implementing the marketing calendar, maintaining a schedule of expenditure and working within the budget.
  7. Managing e-communication including online e-newsletters via Mail chimp (or other email portals).
  8. Assisting in the organization of promotional events and traditional or digital marketing campaigns and attending the events to ensure their success.
  9. Daily maintenance and administration of the website to ensure that all content is up to date and remains fresh and engaging.

Education/Professional qualification and experience - must have the following:

  1. Bachelor degree in Commerce (Marketing Option) from a recognized University.

2.   CIFA, CPA, CS or CCP qualification will be added advantage.

3.  Knowledge and experience with Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other data   processing and graphical presentation software.

4.Previous experience as a Marketing Intern or Assistant will be an added advantage.

Personal attributes

  1. Good understanding of office management and marketing principles.
  2. Good command of the English language.
  3. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  4. Ability to research and create compelling content.
  5. Well-organized with a customer-oriented approach.
  6. Good understanding of the basics of digital and content marketing.
  7. Experience with Microsoft Office suite of products (including Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  8. Good understanding of and experience using the main social networks such as Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter, Tumblr.
  9. Self driven and willing to learn new skills
